Confident, Dedicated,
Honest,
Ready to Work.

Hello, Neighbour!

As a fellow resident of Ward 5 I am ready to get to work for you. I hope you trust me to represent Athol in the next term of council. Vote for me October 26th at Athol Town Hall.

The County has always been a part of my home. Living just across the ferry I spent every season in the County living like a local. No where has ever felt more like home. This is a community to me, a home, not a business oppourtunity. I appreciate the County and its rural charm and want to protect everything that makes the County a unique place to be. The next term of council will be an important one which will shape where the County goes over the next 4 years. I want to repair our finances, protect our rural living & agriculture sector, and strengthen our community.

I am ready to work for you. I want to hear from you fill out the survey or send me an email!

What sets me apart?

I received a Honours Bachelors of Art from Trent University. I completed a double major in Political Studies and International Development Studies accompanied by a minor in Gender and Social Justice Studies.

My degree gave me practical policy knowledge. More applicably it gave me an oppourtunity to improve my critical thinking and expand my intersectional thinking. In a councillor position this makes me acutely qualified to ask the right questions and make tough decisions.

One of the goals of my campaign is to have as many conversations as I possibly can. Either at the door, through email or through my form (find it under the contact tab). I don't need to have these conversations but I want to. I would rather make informed decisions with more than just my own opinion. These conversations will help me do the best job if elected but they also help me see all perspectives when making decisions. I know my community, I know Athol now I want to know you, better.

I will Listen Attentively, Ask the right questions and Think Critically.

I want Transparency, Connection and Responsibility out of the next council and those will be my values if elected.

Athol is home to the beautiful south shore and Monarch conservation reserve. I want to continue to protect this for future generations to enjoy.

Agriculture is essential. I want to continue the work being done to incentivise young farmers and remove barriers to strengthen the farming economy.

Our roads are suffering and I believe we have some catching up to do. I want to see this be a top budget priority along with repairing other aging infrastructure.

Tourism is something that many families rely on for an income wether they are a business owner or an employee. However, the County is a place people come to escape the city and enjoy our community, small town feel, local businesses and the unique charm of the County. I do not want to risk losing this charm and losing our residents or tourism from overdevelopment. This is something that is quite prominent in council- the growth of the county. It must be sustainable and align with the County's goal for the future. Growth and Tourism must be managed at rates that support our residents and infrastructure. I want to see the County look inward for tourism connect locals with local business and events rather then primarily outsourcing business.

Accessibility is very important to me. As an EA I have firsthand experience caring for all ages and abilities. Through this experience I have learned just how interconnected accessibility is with every social service. Accessibility goes beyond ramps, elevators and automatic doors. It is something that must be considered when creating parks, childcare, camps, recreation, public bathrooms and so much more.

The County's financial health is in crisis. I believe we need to prioritise the County's needs and legislated responsibilities to balance the budget. Budget is the first thing council does once elected, I am ready to get to work.

Where do I stand?
