Questions from Residents- Base 31 & Large Dev

What are your thoughts on Base 31 and Cork and Vine developments?

My biggest question when it comes to large developments is where are these people coming from? There are hundreds of homes with lovely property for sale in the price range of these new homes, they sit on the market for a while. I believe if we want locals to be able to afford homes or newly developed homes we need other reasons for them to stay, especially with the increasing cost of living. We need stable jobs and infrastructure to encourage young families to stay here. The second biggest question is with this level of development are we going to a place we cannot sustain. Can we sustain that much traffic and movements during peak times of day and peak seasons? Even if we could, what is the cost for infrastructure, roads and otherwise? What will the impacts on the Tourism industry be? Will we see less tourism because the County has evolved into the very thing people come here to escape from? And after all of this what will be left? Not to mention what is the cost to the County in updating infrastructure, provincial grants have been mainly focused on building homes not on the other interacting factors?

I believe there's a lot of answers missing for residents and myself of how we can adapt to this change without changing who we are and losing business, visitors and residents.
